Description

The late harvest from vines over 60 years old from our Wawern monopole vineyard Grosser
Herrenberg initially presents itself as somewhat closed, with reductive flint aromas. With a little aeration, the smoky notes quickly give way to precise, cool aromas of
Lemon zest, preserved lemon, and grapefruit, along with delicate herbal and mineral notes reminiscent of fresh meadow herbs. On the palate, the wine is taut and focused, with brilliant acidity, pronounced minerality, and a long, stony finish. A late harvest wine that impresses with its clarity and complexity, evolving with every sip.

An excellent aperitif and a very good accompaniment to salty cheeses such as Pecorino.

GROSSER HERRENBERG| VDP.GROSSE LAGE®
This vineyard is located in a side valley of the Saar River, behind the village of Wawern. The vines are rooted in highly weathered Devonian slate with a high clay content. The site has an optimal southern exposure, allowing the vines to benefit from sunshine throughout the day. The Wawern vineyards enjoy the highest number of sunshine hours per year in the entire Saar region. The vineyard slopes a relatively consistent 40%. The complexity of the soil is reflected in the wine, giving it a distinctive character.
