The basis for this delicately fruity auction Kabinett from Europe's largest contiguous steep vineyard, the Kanzemer Altenberg, is fully ripe, healthy grapes from old vines thriving on iron-rich, red slate soil. A bouquet of yellow fruit with notes of ripe pear and peach, delicate floral hints, a touch of blossom honey, and distinct yellow spice notes reminiscent of saffron and turmeric. On the palate, the wine is harmonious and balanced, with an invigorating interplay of sweetness and acidity, a fine texture, good mineral backbone, and a long, delicately fruity finish. A very good Kabinett from a challenging vintage, now at the peak of its drinking window.
